If you’re reading this: thanks already.

Below is a slam-poem that I wrote while I was in Mexico on my solo Mom’ cation. If you want to hear more about why I ventured to Mexico solo at 27 weeks pregnant, click here.

STRONG, LIKE A MOTHER’

I want to build a strong body,⁣ cause I want to be a strong mother.⁣

I want to build a strong body, ⁣‘cause I’m not getting any younger ⁣

I want to build a strong body,⁣ no longer for the sake of “skinny,”⁣

I want to build a strong body,⁣ for more than just feeling pretty. ⁣

I want to build a strong body;⁣ no matter my phase of life. ⁣

I want to build a strong body, ‘cause my husband deserves a healthy wife. ⁣

I want to build a strong body,⁣ one that is nourished to the brim. ⁣

I want to build a strong body,⁣ to perform: far beyond the gym. ⁣

I want to build a strong body,⁣ ‘cause my health is all I got.

I want to build a strong body,⁣ something that can never be borrowed or bought. ⁣

I want to build a strong body,⁣ so my daughter can agree: ⁣

That when you look after yourself:⁣ You take better care of your family. ⁣
