But, you don’t always need your man to join you in your fitness journey.

I hear the turmoil of women’s relationships daily in my office. When working with a female client base whether we’re focusing on their weight, self-confidence, time management or marathon goals, you better believe their spouses support or lack-thereof becomes a commonplace discussion point. ⁣⁣

⁣⁣

This spouse: this partner, this co-parent, this co-habitator, boyfriend, fiance or husband: he’s important. I get it. Like it or not, if you’re choosing another human to spend the majority of your time and energy on: having their love is essential: BUT, having their undenying excitement over YOUR fitness goals is not always necessary. ⁣⁣

⁣⁣

Let me explain: ⁣⁣

⁣⁣

  • Your man can love you without eating your nutrition plan. If he’s not bitching about your salad, let the man eat. ⁣⁣

⁣⁣

  • Your man can love you without joining a gym just cause you did. He might have his own form of fitness and the box gym isn’t him, but if YOU like the treadmill: have at it. ⁣⁣

⁣⁣

  • Your man can love you without complimenting your weight loss: ‘Cause god damnit they never know what to say and talking about a women’s body is a touchy ass subject. Perhaps he just loves you no matter what. ⁣⁣

⁣⁣

So if you’ve got a good man that is supporting you in his own kind of way: LET HIM. If you have the same values, the same beliefs and the same love for each other: having personal and independent goals along the way is A-OK.  ⁣⁣

So here’s a gentle reminder for my females out there wishfully waiting for their spouse to join them along their goal chasing: ⁣⁣

⁣⁣

It’s OK to have your own thing. It’s OK to find a coach or tribe to push you. It’s OK to look externally for support. It’s OK to have someone rooting you on from the sidelines. It’s OK to have undeniable love and support for your partner without going through the motions in unison.
